Read like Paper 2: Here is a short blog — the kind of text Paper 2 (Reading) gives you.

How to work through it

  • Read it once just for the general idea; don't worry about every word.
  • Tap the audio button to hear it.
  • Tap Ver traducción if you get stuck.
  • Then we'll do one exam question together.

  2. Find it in the text.
  3. The answer — Abrió una cadena de comida rápida.
Reading technique: For a según el texto (according to the text) question, find the exact line that proves your answer — don't rely on memory or general knowledge.

Report structure — 4 steps

1

Title

Say exactly what the report covers.

2

Purpose

One sentence on what the report does. Objetivo: este informe analiza…

3

Findings

Facts and figures from your research. Según una encuesta a 50 vecinos…

4

Recommendations

Concrete measures, impersonal. Se recomienda crear…

Title → Purpose → Findings → Recommendations

Modelo: los 4 pasos en ~100 palabras

El informe, paso a paso

Por qué funciona — why it works: A strong report does this for each of the three Paper 1 criteria:

A — Language /12

  • Present perfect for change: han cerrado, han abierto
  • Impersonal se: se recomienda
  • Contrast: sin embargo

B — Message /12

  • Task fully done: purpose, findings AND recommendations
  • Findings backed by figures

C — Conceptual /6

  • Report conventions: precise title and headed sections
  • Formal, impersonal style; facts, not feelings
  • Recommendations as clear measures
Escucha como en Paper 2: Paper 2 also tests listening (25 marks): you hear short clips and answer questions — but you never see the words. Here's one, simplified. Play it, answer, then reveal the transcript to check.

Comprensión auditiva — Lucía, del K-pop al flamenco

Listen to Lucía talk about how music from the other side of the world changed her life. Try to answer before you reveal the transcript — that's how Paper 2 Listening works.

(What has Lucía done this year so as not to lose her own country's music?)

Hi, I'm Lucía. Three years ago I started listening to Korean music and now I study Korean two afternoons a week. Thanks to the internet, I chat with fans from Brazil, Japan and the United States, and we all share the same passion. For me, that's the best thing about globalisation: you can discover cultures that used to be very far away. However, my grandfather says young people don't listen to flamenco any more. That's why this year I've also signed up for flamenco guitar lessons.

Listening technique: Read the question first, then listen for that one detail — you don't need to catch every word. In the real exam you hear each clip twice.
