Answer, justify, expand: A good answer is a mini-paragraph of about 30 seconds: long enough to show ideas, short enough to stay a conversation.
Three moves
- Answer directly: Oui, je pense que… / Pas vraiment, parce que…
- Justify with proof: Cela se voit quand… / Par exemple, en France…
- Expand or ask back: Mais en partie seulement… / Et vous, qu'en pensez-vous ?
If you blank, think aloud: Never stop at Je ne sais pas. Say C'est une question difficile, mais je dirais que… and reason out loud.
