En résumé: L'éditorial n'est pas l'avis d'un journaliste : c'est le journal lui-même qui prend position sur un sujet d'actualité et cherche à faire réfléchir ou agir son lecteur.

Il existe un texte qui parle au nom d'un journal entier, sans jamais être signé d'un nom.

C'est l'éditorial. Sa visée est claire : poser la position officielle de la rédaction sur un sujet d'actualité — une loi votée, une crise, une décision politique. Son destinataire, c'est le lecteur fidèle du journal, que l'éditorial veut faire réfléchir, parfois pousser à agir. Repère les deux marques qui le trahissent aussitôt :

La voix institutionnelle

Ce n'est pas « je » mais « nous » — le « nous » du journal. Pas de signature personnelle en gros : c'est la rédaction qui parle. « Nous ne pouvons accepter que… », « Notre journal l'a toujours dit ». Cette voix collective donne à la position un poids d'institution, pas d'humeur individuelle.

L'argumentation raisonnée et le ton grave

L'éditorial ne se contente pas d'affirmer : il pose une thèse, l'étaye, écarte l'objection. Le ton reste grave, mesuré, digne du sérieux du sujet, et se ferme souvent sur un appel à la réflexion ou à l'action : « Il est temps d'agir. »

Le geste clé: Montre que c'est le journal qui parle — la voix institutionnelle — et analyse comment cette voix construit son autorité : le « nous » qui engage l'institution, l'argument raisonné, le ton grave, l'appel final. Qu'obtient le journal en parlant ainsi d'une seule voix ?
