Why this matters: This vocabulary turns up in every skill — a reading text about a community project, a listening interview about volunteering, a Paper 1 blog or letter, or your oral. Reusing the right topic words is how you score Criterion A (Language).
Have something to say: Examiners reward developed ideas, not just vocabulary. Around social engagement, the common debates are: whether young people should volunteer, whether schools should make community service compulsory, and how getting involved changes both the volunteer and the neighbourhood. Take a position and back it up.

- The question — «Según el texto, ¿qué hacían los vecinos cada sábado en el huerto?»
- Find it in the text. Look for «cada sábado»: «Cada sábado nos reuníamos vecinos de todas las edades para plantar verduras y cuidar las plantas juntos.»
- The answer — Se reunían para plantar verduras y cuidar las plantas juntos.
Reading technique: For a «según el texto» (according to the text) question, find the exact line that proves your answer — don't rely on memory or general knowledge.
La tarea — your task: Tu colegio organiza una semana del voluntariado. Escribe un blog para otros/as estudiantes: describe un proyecto social en el que participaste y da consejos para comprometerse con la comunidad.
