¿Cuáles son las tres preguntas del método de lectura atenta?
¿Qué pasa? (what happens) → ¿Cómo está escrito? (voice, tone, devices) → ¿Qué significa? (theme, effect).
What is the difference between retelling and close reading?
Retelling says *what happens*; close reading notices *how it's written and what it suggests* — and earns the marks.
Give the close-reading rule for every comment, in three words.
Recurso → cita → efecto (device → quotation → effect): name the device, quote it, explain its effect.
In «¿qué pasa? / ¿cómo? / ¿qué significa?», which gets the most time in the oral?
The last two — ¿cómo está escrito? and ¿qué significa? «¿Qué pasa?» is just one sentence.

What is the HL individual-oral stimulus, and how does it differ from SL?
HL = a literary EXTRACT from one of the two works studied; SL = a visual stimulus (an image) on a course theme.
Name the four stages of the HL individual oral, in order.
1) ~15 min supervised preparation, 2) 3–4 min presentation, 3) conversation on the work, 4) broader conversation on the themes.
How is the HL individual oral marked?
Out of 30: Criterion A Language /12, Criterion B Message /12, Criterion C Interactive & receptive skills /6.
What three things must the presentation do with the extract?
Describe it (what happens), interpret it (what it means), and relate it to the whole work — not just summarise.

How do you talk about what a text DOES — present or past?
The literary present: «el autor presenta…», «la escena muestra…», «Marta mira la nieve» — even though you read it in the past.
Which mood follows «no creo que…», and why?
The subjunctive (doubt/denial): «no creo que el final SEA feliz» — not «es». A classic error to avoid.
Give two ways the conditional softens a literary opinion.
«Yo diría que el tema central es…» (I would say…) and «se podría interpretar como…» (it could be interpreted as…) — mature, nuanced.
What is wrong with «me gusta el libro» in the oral?
It's an unjustified opinion — it earns nothing. Justify it: «me parece conmovedor PORQUE…» / «lo que más me llama la atención es… porque…».
