What does a developed argument do?
Builds — each section adds a new layer, arriving somewhere new.

Re-proving the same point with different quotations — no growth.
How does a developed argument move?
Claim → deeper reason → complication → ‘so what?’.
How does answering a counter-idea help?
It shows evaluation and deepens the argument.

Staircase = each step adds a layer; carousel = same point circled.
Which criteria does development serve?
C (focus, organisation and development) and B (evaluation).
Where should the argument arrive?
At a richer, more nuanced conclusion than the thesis alone.
What should each paragraph add?
A new layer — a deeper reason, a complication, or a counter-idea answered.
Development in one word?
Growth — the argument gets richer.
A quick test for development?
