IB History (2028+) SL Notes

Aimnova offers free IB History SL revision notes for the redesigned syllabus, first examined in 2028. This is a different course from the 2020 syllabus sat by the 2026 and 2027 cohorts, so these notes are written against the new guide throughout — the five Paper 1 focused studies and the four Paper 2 thematic studies — with source-work walkthroughs, essay plans, spaced-repetition flashcards, and IB-style practice questions with AI feedback. The 2028 History syllabus is a concept-and-skills redesign. Rather than rewarding coverage for its own sake, it asks you to work as a historian: to interrogate sources for value and limitation, to weigh causation against consequence and continuity against change, and to build arguments that hold up across cases rather than recount one. The notes teach the source skills Paper 1 tests — origin, purpose, content, value and limitation — and then show how the same analytical moves carry into a Paper 2 essay.

These notes are organised across nine SL study units: five Paper 1 focused studies (Climate and innovation; Independence and identity; Political and economic transitions; Conflict and displacement; Protest and change) and four Paper 2 thematic studies (Conflict; Innovation and transformation; Authoritarian rule; Popular movements). You revise for Paper 1 (source-based questions) and Paper 2 (comparative thematic essays) with worked examples throughout.
