Key concepts in Delivering the IA

Key Idea: Delivering the IA covers the oral itself: a 3–4 minute presentation of the extract, then the conversation. Ready phrases help you keep talking in German.

The presentation

  1. Einleitung — Introduce the extract.
  2. Inhalt — Place and plot, about one minute.
  3. Deutung — Two points, each with a quotation.
  4. Werk — Link the extract to the whole work.
  5. Schluss — A last sentence you planned.

The conversation

  • Answer → reason → example → other side.
  • Part 2 stays on the extract, with evidence from it; Part 3 goes out into the world.
  • Never «Ja» or «Ich weiß nicht» alone.
  • Ask for clarification when needed, not before every answer.

Language for the oral

  • One ready phrase for each job: present, quote, interpret, link, buy time.
  • Say narrator or character, not «das Buch».
  • Name the technique and its effect every time.
  • After «Abschließend» the verb comes next.
Speak from keywords, never read sentences, and practise with a timer until you finish in 3:15 to 3:45.

How many interpretation points do you need? Two are enough.

Where does your evidence come from in Part 2? The extract.

Your teacher asks a question and you say «Ja.» What is missing? A reason, an example and the other side.

Fix the word order: «Abschließend ich kann sagen …» «Abschließend kann ich sagen …»
