IB Design Technology SL Notes

Aimnova offers free IB Design Technology SL revision notes for the 2027 syllabus, first assessed in May 2027. The 2027 guide is a matrix: four organising ideas — people, process, product and production — set against three themes. Theme A is design in theory (ergonomics, user-centred research and prototyping techniques, material classification). Theme B is design in practice (user-centred design, the design process end to end, modelling and prototyping, material selection). Theme C is design in context (designer responsibility, inclusive design, sustainability, the circular economy and product analysis).

These notes follow the guide’s own A1–C4 labelling, so you can revise systematically for Paper 1 (multiple choice, 20%), Paper 2 (short answer and extended response built on the analysis of a product, 40%) and the 50-hour design project (40%). Every topic ends with a summary page written for revision and a bank of exam-style questions.
