Key concepts in Delivering the IA

Key Idea: On the day you give a 3–4 minute presentation on your image, then answer your teacher's questions in Part 2 and Part 3. You speak from key-word notes, never a script.
Your presentation
PartWhat you sayExample
IntroduceOne sentence on what the image shows{{La foto muestra…|The photo shows…}}
DescribeOnly the details that matter{{En primer plano… al fondo…|In the foreground… in the background…}}
InterpretWhat it shows and your view. Spend the most time here.{{Creo que muestra… En mi opinión…|I think it shows… In my opinion…}}
LinkThe theme{{Esto se relaciona con el tema de…|This relates to the theme of…}}
CloseHand over to your teacher{{Me gustaría hablar más sobre…|I would like to talk more about…}}
Part 2 and Part 3
PartWhat it is aboutMarked in
Part 2: DiscussionYour image and its themeB2 and C
Part 3: ConversationOne or more other themes from the courseB2 and C

Develop every answer

  1. Answer — {{Sí, creo que… / No, no creo que…|Yes, I think… / No, I don't think…}}
  2. Reason — {{porque… / ya que…|because… / since…}}
  3. Example from your life — {{Por ejemplo, en mi instituto…|For example, at my school…}}

About three sentences per answer.

Phrases for each job
JobPhrases
Present{{Voy a hablar de…|I am going to talk about…}}
Describe{{Se ve…|You can see…}}
Give an opinion{{Me parece que…|It seems to me that…}}
Link{{Además… / Por eso…|Also… / That's why…}}
Buy time{{Bueno… a ver… / Es una buena pregunta.|Well… let's see… / That's a good question.}}
If you don't understand, ask: «¿Podría repetir la pregunta, por favor?» Asking is much better than silence.

Which part of the presentation gets the most time? Interpret: what it means and what you think.

Your teacher asks «¿Te gusta leer?». You say «Sí.» What is missing? A reason and an example from your own life.

Fix: «En la foto había dos niños.» «En la foto hay dos niños.» The photo is described in the present.

Fix: «No creo que es importante.» «No creo que sea importante.» It needs the subjunctive.

What do you say instead of «um»? A Spanish filler such as «Bueno…», and a different one each time.

What goes in your notes? Key words for each part, never full sentences.
