En una línea: El presagio siembra pistas de lo que va a ocurrir: pequeños detalles que crean suspense o una sensación de inevitabilidad y que cobran todo su sentido al releer.

Un cielo que se encapota justo antes de una tragedia. Un personaje que dice ‘nunca volveré a verte’ y se marcha tan tranquilo.

Cuando algo malo pasa en un relato, casi siempre el autor ya te había avisado —con un detalle tan sutil que no le diste importancia—. Eso es el presagio: una pista plantada a propósito para que lo que viene parezca inevitable. Fíjate en las dos maneras en que actúa.

Un ejemplo claro de cada una

Presagio

Un detalle temprano anticipa lo que ocurrirá —un arma que aparece ‘por casualidad’, una despedida demasiado solemne—. No cuenta el final: lo insinúa. En Crónica de una muerte anunciada, García Márquez te dice desde la primera línea que van a matar a Santiago Nasar, y aun así lees con angustia CÓMO ocurre.

Anticipación (suspense)

El autor tensa la espera: retrasa un dato, deja una frase a medias, corta la escena en el peor momento. No siembra una pista concreta; genera la sensación de que algo está a punto de pasar y te obliga a seguir leyendo.

El paso clave: El presagio solo insinúa —una pista velada—; el flashforward te enseña el futuro directamente. Cuando detectes un presagio, localiza su cumplimiento (el momento en que la pista se hace realidad) y analiza qué consigue el autor: ¿suspense?, ¿inevitabilidad?, ¿ironía trágica?
