En resumen: El editorial es el artículo con el que un periódico fija su POSTURA oficial sobre un tema de actualidad: no lo firma una persona, lo firma el medio entero.

Abres el periódico y encuentras un texto sin firma, colocado en un lugar fijo, que opina con gravedad sobre la noticia del día.

Ese es el editorial. No es un columnista contando lo que piensa: es el periódico como institución diciendo ‘esta es nuestra posición’. Por eso habla en un ‘nosotros’ sereno, argumenta con datos y a menudo termina llamando a la reflexión o a la acción. Fíjate en lo que lo delata en la página:

Dos rasgos que delatan un editorial

Voz institucional sin firma

Habla el medio, no una persona: un ‘nosotros’ o un impersonal (‘creemos’, ‘resulta inadmisible’), sin nombre de autor al pie. Esa ausencia de firma es la señal de que quien opina es el periódico entero.

Postura razonada y tono grave

Fija una tesis clara sobre un asunto de actualidad y la sostiene con argumentos ordenados y un tono serio, casi solemne. Suele cerrar con una llamada a la reflexión o a la acción, no con una anécdota personal.

El paso clave: Precisa que la voz es institucional (editorial): identifica la tesis del periódico y analiza cómo la voz colectiva y el tono grave buscan dar autoridad a esa postura y mover al lector a compartirla.

La clave: El editorial habla en nombre del medio, no de una persona: analiza esa voz colectiva.
