La idea clave: Las palabras no solo significan: también suenan. Un autor elige sonidos —suaves o ásperos, rápidos o lentos— para que el oído sienta lo mismo que dice el sentido.

Lee esto en voz alta: “el murmullo de las aguas mansas”.

¿Lo notas? Casi puedes oír el agua. Esas emes y esas eses arrastradas suenan a susurro antes incluso de que entiendas lo que dicen. Eso no es casualidad: el autor ha elegido esos sonidos para que el oído sienta la calma. Cuando un texto está bien escrito, el sonido y el sentido tiran en la misma dirección. Fíjate en las dos formas más habituales de conseguirlo:

Aliteración

Se repite un mismo sonido consonántico —‘el susurro de la sierpe sinuosa’—. Esas eses arrastran el verso y hacen oír el siseo. El sonido imita lo que la frase describe: eso es lo que debes interpretar, no solo señalar la letra.

Asonancia y ritmo

Se repiten los sonidos vocálicos —‘la amargura de la madrugada’—. Las vocales abiertas dan amplitud y lentitud; el ritmo que crean condiciona el tono del verso tanto como su significado.

El paso clave: Nombra el sonido que se repite, di qué sensación produce (eufonía o cacofonía) y conéctalo con el sentido: ¿el sonido imita algo?, ¿qué emoción refuerza?, ¿por qué eligió el autor esas palabras y no otras?

  • Que interpretes qué consigue ese sonido: qué imita, qué tono crea, qué siente el lector.
  • Un sonido nunca se analiza solo: di qué imita o qué te hace sentir.

Ojo con esto: No te quedes en ‘se repite la letra s’. Precisa qué sonido es, si resulta suave (eufonía) o áspero (cacofonía), e interpreta qué consigue: imitar un ruido, crear una emoción o marcar el ritmo del verso. Y léelo siempre en voz alta: el oído detecta lo que el ojo se salta.
