En una línea: Ningún texto flota en el vacío: el momento, el lugar y el género en que nace moldean su sentido; en la Prueba 1 ese contexto se deduce de las pistas del propio texto, no de lo que sepas de antemano.

Te dan un texto sin título, sin fecha y sin nombre de autor.

Y aun así, antes de terminar el primer párrafo, ya intuyes muchas cosas: si es de hace un siglo o de ayer, si lo escribió alguien indignado o alguien nostálgico, si es un discurso, un anuncio o la página de una novela. ¿De dónde sacas todo eso? De las pistas que el texto lleva dentro. Eso es leer el contexto —y en el IB se hace SIEMPRE desde dentro—. Fíjate en las dos maneras de entenderlo:

Dos formas de entender el contexto

El contexto que rodea al texto

Es el mundo del que nace: la época, el lugar, la cultura, la vida del autor y el género al que pertenece. Una carta de despedida escrita en plena guerra no significa lo mismo que la misma carta escrita hoy: el momento tiñe cada palabra.

El contexto que se lee DENTRO

En la Prueba 1 el texto es inédito y no puedes buscar nada por fuera. Así que el contexto lo reconstruyes con pistas internas —una fecha, un topónimo, una referencia, el registro, una palabra pasada de moda— y solo con ellas sitúas el texto.

El paso clave: Busca las pistas internas —fecha, lugar, referencias, registro— y a partir de ELLAS deduce el momento, el propósito y el lector al que va dirigido. Del texto hacia fuera, nunca al revés.
