What 'l'intervista' covers: An interview (l'intervista) is one of the media text types you must be able to recognise AND write. It is a conversation in which an interviewer (l'intervistatore / l'intervistatrice) asks a guest (l'intervistato/a — l'ospite) a series of questions. Why this matters: These words let you both answer reading/listening questions about an interview and write one yourself in Paper 1. Reusing the right text-type vocabulary is how you score Criterion A (Language) and Criterion C (Conceptual understanding).
What makes a text an interview: Examiners reward you for using the conventions of the text type. An interview is built from question–answer pairs (domanda–risposta), framed by a short introduction of the guest and a closing thank-you. The register is usually semiformale (semi-formal): you address a respected guest with Lei, politely but warmly.
Question openers (use these to ask politely)

- Ci può raccontare come…? — Can you tell us how…?
- Che consiglio darebbe a…? — What advice would you give…?

Domande deboli (closed / informal)
- «Ti piace?» (domanda sì/no + tu)
- «Sei famoso?» (troppo diretta, tu)
- «Ti piace lo sport?» (chiusa)
Keep the register consistent: Decide on Lei before you start and keep it across every question — mixing Lei and tu breaks the tone and costs you Criterion C. Connectors such as inoltre (besides), tuttavia (however) and perciò (therefore) make the answers sound developed.

- The question — «Secondo il testo, che consiglio dà Lucia Bianchi ai giovani?»
- Find it in the text. Look for «consiglio»: «—Che consiglio darebbe ai giovani? —Direi loro: siate pazienti e curiosi.»
- The answer — Consiglia loro di essere pazienti e curiosi.
Reading technique: For a «secondo il testo» (according to the text) question, find the exact line that proves your answer — in an interview, match the question word («consiglio», «più bella») to the line that answers it.
Il compito — your task: Per il sito della tua scuola devi realizzare un'intervista a uno studente o una studentessa che ha vinto un concorso. Presenta la persona, falle tre domande sulle sue esperienze e sui suoi consigli, e ringraziala alla fine.
