The informal email/letter: An informal email or letter (l'email/la lettera informale) is a personal text — you write to someone you know well: a friend, a cousin, a host family. In Paper 1 you may be asked to write one, so you need its conventions (how it opens and closes), its register (friendly, using tu) and the right topic phrases. Why this matters: In Paper 1, choosing and following the right text type is Criterion C (Conceptual understanding). An informal email must look like an informal email — greeting, warm tone, sign-off. Miss those and you lose easy marks even if your Italian is good.
Warm, personal — and 'tu': The whole point of an informal text is register: you write to a friend, so you use tu (not the formal Lei), a friendly tone, questions, exclamations and a few affectionate phrases. Getting the register right is half of scoring Criterion C.

The tu / Lei trap: Slipping into Lei by mistake (e.g. «La ringrazio») instantly makes an informal email sound wrong. Keep every verb and pronoun in tu: «Ti ringrazio», «Fammi sapere», «Spero che tu stia bene».

Reading technique: For a «secondo il testo» (according to the text) question, find the exact line that proves your answer — don't rely on memory or general knowledge.
