What 'das Interview' covers: An interview (das Interview) is one of the media text types you must be able to recognise AND write. It is a conversation in which an interviewer (der Interviewer / die Interviewerin) asks a guest (der/die Befragte) a series of questions. What makes a text an interview: Examiners reward you for using the conventions of the text type. An interview is built from question–answer pairs (Frage–Antwort), framed by a short introduction of the guest and a closing thank-you. The register is usually halbförmlich (semi-formal): you address a respected guest with Sie, politely but warmly.
Question openers (use these to ask politely)

Keep the register consistent: Decide on Sie before you start and keep it across every question — mixing Sie and du breaks the tone and costs you Criterion C. Connectors such as außerdem (besides), jedoch (however) and deshalb (therefore) make the answers sound developed.

- Find it in the text. Look for „Rat“: „—Welchen Rat geben Sie jungen Leuten? —Ich würde ihnen sagen: Seid geduldig und neugierig.“
- The answer — Sie sollen geduldig und neugierig sein.
Reading technique: For a „dem Text zufolge“ (according to the text) question, find the exact line that proves your answer — in an interview, match the question word („Rat“, „Schönste“) to the line that answers it.
