IB Digital Society is a matrix rather than a list. Seven concepts (change, expression, identity, power, space, systems, and values and ethics) are the lenses; seven content topics (data, algorithms, computers, networks and the internet, media, artificial intelligence, and robots and autonomous technologies) carry the substance; and seven contexts (cultural, economic, environmental, health, human knowledge, political and social) are where it all plays out. These notes give every prescribed area for inquiry its own page rather than crossing the axes, which is how the exam actually asks about them.

Because every markband rewards specific, named, current examples, each micro-topic is anchored to real cases — GDPR, the Cambridge Analytica disclosures, COMPAS, M-Pesa, the Christchurch Call, Agbogbloshie — with what happened, who it affected and which concepts it illustrates. These notes follow the guide’s own numbering, so 3.1A in the guide is 3.1A here. Each micro-topic ends with a summary built for revision and a bank of exam-style questions marked against the IB markbands. Work through the units to prepare for Paper 1 (40%), the source-based Paper 2 (30%) and the inquiry project (30%).
