What 'pace e conflitto' covers: Peace & conflict (la pace e il conflitto) is part of the theme Sharing the Planet. Useful expression (Italian)English
Preferisco il dialogo allo scontro.I prefer dialogue to confrontation.
Bisogna risolvere i conflitti in modo pacifico.Conflicts must be resolved peacefully.
Dobbiamo imparare a convivere in pace.We must learn to live together in peace.
Mutual respect is the basis of living together.
Litigare non risolve niente.Arguing doesn't solve anything.
Why this matters: This vocabulary turns up in every skill — a reading text on mediation, a listening interview about a school project, a Paper 1 blog on tolerance, or your oral. Reusing the right topic words is how you score Criterion A (Language).

Have something to say: Examiners reward developed ideas, not just vocabulary. Around peace and conflict, the common debates are: dialogue vs confrontation, how to handle conflict at school or online, and how tolerance and respect make living together possible. Take a position and back it up.

Read like Paper 2: Here is a short blog — the kind of text Paper 2 (Reading) gives you. Read it once just for the general idea; don't worry about every word. Tap the audio button to hear it, or Mostra traduzione if you get stuck. Then we'll do one exam question together.

  2. Find it in the text.
Reading technique: For a «secondo il testo» (according to the text) question, find the exact line that proves your answer — don't rely on memory or general knowledge.

Blog structure — 5 steps

1

Catchy title

A title, often a question. «Litigate per ogni sciocchezza?»

2

Greeting + topic

Greet the reader and say what the post is about. «Ciao a tutti! Oggi voglio parlarvi di…»

3

Your experience

Describe the conflict in the past (imperfetto). «L'anno scorso litigavamo per tutto…»

4

Two or three tips

Give advice using the imperative. «Ascoltate l'altro», «dialogate», «cercate una soluzione giusta».

5

Motivating close

Finish with an encouraging line. «Cominciate oggi! Farete la differenza.»

Title → Greeting → Experience → Tips → Close

Modello: i 5 passi in azione

Il blog scritto, passo dopo passo

  1. Litigate per ogni sciocchezza? C'è un modo migliore.
  2. Ciao a tutti!
Perché prende punti — why it scores: This answer hits all three Paper 1 criteria — here's what earns each one:

A — Language /12

  • Range of tenses: imperfetto «litigavamo», imperativo «ascoltate»
  • Connectors: «tuttavia», «perciò», «invece di»
  • Topic vocabulary, used accurately

B — Message /12

  • Task fully done: recounts a conflict AND gives advice
  • Ideas developed with concrete examples

C — Conceptual /6

  • Blog conventions: a catchy title
  • Direct address: «vi do», «cominciate»
  • A persuasive, personal tone

Comprensione orale — il progetto di Sara

Paper 2 tests listening (25 marks): you hear 3 short clips, each played twice, and you never see the words. Read the questions first, then listen and reveal the answers.

(What do the mediators do when two students argue?)
(What matters most to her?)

Hi, I'm Sara. This year at my school there were a lot of conflicts among the students, so we set up a group of mediators. When two students argue, we don't judge anyone: we listen to them both and look together for a fair solution. At first it wasn't easy, but now there's much more respect. For me, the most important thing is to talk things through instead of fighting.

[2 marks]
