One adjective each, with a detail: «Il padre appare chiuso: non lo guarda.»

Three to six words from the text that sum it up.

Place → What happens → Who and where → Quote

One adjective, one reason: Il padre è triste is a guess. Il padre appare ferito: parla senza guardarlo is a reading.

A practice extract: From an invented novel, L'ultima corriera. Davide, 19, has won a place at a design school in Milan. His father wanted him to run the family carpentry workshop.
Brano: «L'ultima corriera», capitolo 3: Oggi Davide è l'unico passeggero dell'ultima corriera del paese, con il biglietto per Milano in tasca. Suo padre è rimasto sulla porta della falegnameria. «Tanto torni», ha detto soltanto, senza guardarlo.

Dal finestrino Davide vede le persiane verdi che nessuno apre più, il bar di Rocco con il cartello «Vendesi». Non sa se suo padre abbia ragione.

  1. Collocare. «Il brano si trova all'inizio del romanzo L'ultima corriera: Davide ha appena vinto un posto a Milano.»
  2. Che cosa succede. «Davide parte con l'ultima corriera. Il padre non lo accompagna.»
  3. Personaggi e luogo. «Il padre appare chiuso, perché parla senza guardarlo. Il paese è quasi vuoto.»
  4. Citazione. «L'ultima frase riassume il brano: Davide “non sa se suo padre abbia ragione”.»
