Key concepts in Delivering the IA

Key Idea: Delivering the IA is about the oral itself: a short presentation from notes, then the conversation. Ready phrases help you keep talking in German.

The presentation

  1. Einleiten — Introduce the photo. Keep it short.
  2. Beschreiben — Describe what you see.
  3. Deuten — Say what it means.
  4. Verbinden — Link it to the theme.
  5. Abschließen — End with a sentence that opens the conversation.

The conversation

  • Part 2 is about your photo; Part 3 is about another theme.
  • Answer, give a reason and an example, then hand the talk back: {{Und Sie?|And you?}}
  • Fill a pause in German, and ask if you did not understand.

Language for the oral

  • After {{weil|because}} the verb goes last; after {{deshalb|therefore}} it comes next.
  • One Konjunktiv II per answer: {{Ich würde sagen, dass …|I would say that …}}
  • Stay in German, even when you search for a word.
Plan from bullet points, never a script: short at the start and the end, full in the middle.

Can you read a script aloud? No. Speak from your notes.

What is Part 3 about? A theme that is not on your photo.

«Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank __.» Where does «bin» go? At the very end.

How does your presentation end? It leads into the conversation.

What you'll learn in Topic 7.3
