Key Idea: Delivering the IA is about the talk itself: a clear presentation, developed answers in the conversation, and ready phrases for each job.
The presentation
- Introduce — Say what you will talk about.
- Describe — The image, quickly.
- Interpret — What it means. Spend most of your time here and on your view.
- Link — Connect it to a theme.
- Close — Round off your talk.
Plan the shape in your notes, not every word. Signpost each part with a connector.
The conversation
- Part 2 is about your image. Part 3 moves to another theme.
- Answer + reason → example → keep it open: because…, for example…, in my case…
- Never go silent: say "Well…" or ask the teacher to repeat.
Language for the oral
- Learn one or two phrases per job: present, describe, interpret, give an opinion, link, buy time.
- Back every opinion with "because…".
- Use the present continuous for what is happening in the image.
A short pause is fine. Silence is not: fill it with "Well…" and keep talking.
Where should most of your presentation time go? On what the image means and what you think.
"A man ___ (sit) on a bench." Which tense? is sitting: the present continuous.
Your teacher asks about a new theme. Which part is this? Part 3, the conversation.
Should you write the whole talk in your notes? No. Only the shape.
You didn't understand the question. What do you do? Ask for a repeat.
