Key concepts in Développer un argument

Key Idea: Un essai de NS doit construire un seul argument, pas une liste de remarques. Ta thèse répond à la question de recherche, et chaque paragraphe la fait avancer d’un pas.

Développer un argument

  1. Thèse — Une réponse discutable à ta question, pas seulement un thème.
  2. Progression — Chaque paragraphe fait avancer la thèse ; il n’ouvre pas un nouveau sujet.
  3. Signalisation — Des liens comme « cette impression se creuse quand… » font entendre au lecteur l’argument qui se construit.
Une liste ou un argument

Une liste: Reliée par « de plus, ensuite, enfin ». Les paragraphes ne dépendent pas les uns des autres. Aucune thèse ne les tient ensemble.

Un argument: Chaque paragraphe naît du précédent. Le lecteur sent la thèse progresser.

Si tu pouvais intervertir deux paragraphes, tu as une liste, pas un argument.

Qu’est-ce qu’un argument soutenu ? Chaque paragraphe prolonge celui d’avant et pousse la thèse plus loin.

Un paragraphe peut-il ouvrir un nouveau sujet ? Non. Il doit pousser la même thèse plus loin.

Qu’écris-tu en premier ? Ta thèse, en une phrase discutable.

Comment chaque paragraphe doit-il s’ouvrir ? En montrant le pas qu’il ajoute à la thèse.
