Formal: "Dear…" / "Yours sincerely". No contractions: I am, cannot. request, postpone, assist. "I would be grateful if…".

- Justify it — because… / since… / given that… / for example…

Refer back with it, they, this or such instead of repeating a noun, and never join every idea with "and".
