IB Computer Science SL Notes

IB Computer Science SL is built from two themes. Theme A covers the concepts of computer science: computer fundamentals (CPU components, memory, the fetch-decode-execute cycle, storage and compression), networks, databases, and machine learning. Theme B covers computational thinking and problem-solving: specifying a problem, programming with the standard control structures and data structures, algorithm efficiency, file processing, and object-oriented programming.

These notes are organised across seven study units following the guide’s own A1–A4 and B1–B3 structure, so you can revise systematically for Paper 1 (short answers and structured questions, 35%), Paper 2 (applied programming and problem-solving, 35%), and the internally assessed computational solution (30%). Every topic ends with a summary page built for revision and a bank of exam-style questions.
